Resolution updated: different hardware (mainboard, cpu, processor) also
result in a premature stop of all disks connected to both port
multipliers. This time within 11 hours.

** Description changed:

  4.) What happened?
All 10 hard disk drives connected to 2 port multipliers fail after 4 days and
18 hours.
This happens for the second time in a short time interval.
All lights/LED's on the port multiplier are off, except for the "Status" LED,
that one is still green.

  3.) Expected to happen?
  No disk drive connection hang.

  2.) Package version
  $ apt-cache policy linux

- Candidate: 2.6.32.32.38

  1.) Ubuntu release
  > lsb_release -rd
  Description: Ubuntu 10.04.1 LTS
  Release: 10.04

  0.) Resolution
  - pressing reset button on port multiplier = left Status led goes off, right
Status led goes on for 2 seconds, left Status led goes back on; no improvement
  - install apport package, hangs
  - reboot system, hangs at 'Checking for running unattended-upgrades: '
  - power cycle, now everything comes back to normal
- - replacing macmini2,1 with identical spare macmini2,1; result is yet unknown
- - ToDo: try booting i386-efi/grub.efi, instead of current BIOS mode
+ - replacing macmini2,1 with spare macmini2,1 (different mainboard, cpu,
memory); also stops prematurely (within 11 hours)
+ - ToDo: try booting i386-efi/grub.efi, instead of current BIOS mode (too
complex for me)

  Hardware:
  - macmini2,1
  - Highpoint Rocket Raid (RR2300) SATA card (firmware version 2.2 / no raid /
4 disks = JBOD / 6 disks = legacy)
  - 2 x Dawicontrol DC-6510 PM port multipliers
  - 10 x WDC10EARS
