So, I've looking around the net for solutions. This eventually led me to the discovery alsamixer (don't know why you'd use this instead of the GUI version that you can access from the desktop). I also eventually decided to unmute everything possible and put everything at full gain/input. Meaning I activated everything possible and moved all the slider bars to the very top.
Result: nothing. I was about ready to give up when I remember that I have the option to select between Mic1 and Mic2. I switched from Mic2 to Mic1 and noticed instantly that I was getting feedback out of my headset. I started playing around with slider bars and noticed that the feedback only responded (disappeared) when I moved three specific slider bars down from the top position: Microphone, PCM and, naturally, Master. Figuring I had won, I opened up Sound Recorder, and attempted to record my voice. Zilch. I would love to test Skype, but at the moment that is impossible b/c I'm on a firewalled work connection. -- Microphone not working after upgrade from edgy to feisty https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/108798 You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is the bug contact for Ubuntu. -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list [email protected] https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs
