Yes, it turns out that it is a LiveCD, except that it doesn't want to live :). I boot from it and it gives me the following message:

I did not want to upgrade, but a clean install with the LiveCD 7.04. It does not start because of the tty thing. So I gave a fourth (or more?) try to install 7.04, and because it is not possbile directly from CD, and the upgrade from 6.10 to 7.04 from the CD messed up my system (see https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/gnome-app- install/+bug/109382), I tried yesterday (23 Apr) to upgrade from the internet, after reinstalling 6.10 (the 6.10 LiveCD works fine, no tty bug at all). Today (24 Apr) I left the computer (went to job) applying the upgrades, after successfully downloaded distribution upgrade packages.
