@Mauricio, the test kernel I mentioned didn't pan out because the quirks I was looking at wouldn't apply to your machine. I did find an upstream patch however that would change the way acer-wmi interacts with the bios for your machine, and I think it's worth a try to see whether or not this helps with your problem.
