First, you should have a look at
https://wiki.ubuntu.com/DebuggingPrintingProblems. It tells you how to
get the needed information to work on the bug. For failed jobs you
should especially have a look at "CUPS error_log" and "Capturing print
job data". Please follow the instructions and attach all resulting files
to this bug report, one by one, uncompressed and not TARing them
together.

About participating in making ink level check work and also to fix this
bug, you should join the upstream developers of Gutenprint, the driver
which is most probably used by the printer. See
http://gutenprint.sf.net/ and the developer mailing list
https://lists.sourceforge.net/lists/listinfo/gimp-print-devel. Simply
post your issues and wishes on that mailing list.

Also test Gutenprint 5.2.7. You find a ready-to-install package on
http://www.openprinting.org/driver/gutenprint. Does it work with that
version?

** Changed in: cups (Ubuntu)
       Status: New => Incomplete

** Package changed: cups (Ubuntu) => gutenprint (Ubuntu)
