Public bug reported:
Situation:
1) using Feisty released edition (not a beta).
2) Hardware: Samsung X05 laptop with 1G memory, which works perfect with Edgy.
Problem:
1) Upgraded to 7.04 using the alternative CD, then boot, no login sound
is played, show me an empty desktop, I can only move the mouse (which
becomes very sluggish) and do nothing else. I then press ctrl-alt-
backspace to restart X, I see the GDM window, after enter user name and
password, still show me an empty screen.
2) Then I try using the Desktop LiveCD to boot, it STILL show me an
empty screen, even in the livecd system.
3) Then I try use the alternative CD to make a clean install (format the
entire harddisk), and it give me a black screen with a blinking cursor
in the middle of the process, before this blank screen finally cool
down, I see that my CD-ROM stopped running earlier, but hard disk light
is still blinking, indicating it is copying something, but finally
everything cooled down...
For now I have to revert back to edgy. But I am prepared to help
diagnose this problem, as now I can reproduce this problem with the
livecd!
Please give me any hint where I should look for any logs that may reveal
something.
Thanks,
Shannon
