Public bug reported: I recently installed Ubuntu Feisty x86_64 on my computer and the installation went on without problem.
Now when I -- well, grub :-) boots this brand new installation, it crashes/freezes very early on, with the caps lock and scroll lock lights flashing. There is no problem when I use the "recovery" boot line from grub, and X works fine too when I startx from here. This may come from the 'splash' boot option. After some tries I removed it, and now the system boots normally and runs just fine. This somehow looks like the bug https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/linux-source-2.6.20/+bug/89717 but the unbuntu version is different, and the x86_64 live CD did work fine with me (and I have different keyboard lights flashing if the ones reported there were correct ;-). Before this installation, I ran an x86 Ubuntu Feisty (upgraded from Edgy) on the exact same hardware configuration and never had this problem. The configuration is : Athlon X2 processor on an nForce4 motherboard. 1 GB DDR memory. X800XL 256MB graphic card. System installed on a SATA drive ( 2 more SATA HDD and 2 IDE DVD drives inside). ** Affects: Ubuntu Importance: Undecided Status: Unconfirmed -- feisty x86_64 boot freeze, early on https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/109592 You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is the bug contact for Ubuntu. -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list [email protected] https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs
