Still trying to solve the problem. It seems that kernel modesetting is
no longer a practical solution. There is any chance to persuade
Canonical to publish a kernel update and a intel driver that doesn't
have KMS enabled on it? I would try to compile the kernel and the video
driver by myself, but i fear to break my system.

PS: It seems that also the xf86-video-intel driver is involved
