Public bug reported:
Binary package hint: pm-utils
Suspending the machine fails if I am logged into the X session (unity).
the pm-suspend.log says success to every suspend step, but then the
machine goes into some zombie state: display goes dark, sound driver
switches off, but the fan keeps running and the system is totally
unresponsible. The only way to wake it up then is to press and hold the
power button until it does a hard power down. (Which means file system
check after the reboot...). This is 100% reproducible.
BUT: If I don't login to the X session, but instead log into a virtual
console (Ctrl-Alt-F1) and call /usr/sbin/pm-suspend from there, the
system suspends correctly and awakes from suspend as it should. This is
also 100% reproducible!
So I suspect this has something to do with a user application inhibiting
proper suspend. Any ideas that could help tracking down the problem?
