The fan rotates at moderate speed, + accordingly. Killing the "/usr/bin/lxsession -s Lubuntu -e LXDE" process in htop makes the CPU usage drop near zero. (However, this either kills the desktop session, or only resets the user settings -- none of which is acceptable.)
