I've got the same problem here. The version is 2.1.2-2ubuntu1. Going by the file stamps, this is the first time I've tried to fire it up since 19th March 2006, when it worked fine. I'm not sure exactly how I'd go about finding out what version I had installed then, but I do keep everything fairly up-to-date, so at most it would be a couple of days out of sync with the repository.
