Can you now, after having installed HPLIP, try to set up your printer
again? Remove all its print queues and turn it off and on again. Does
something happen? Does it get set up automatically?

If not, do

sudo apt-get install system-config-printer-udev

If a package gets installed, turn off and turn on your printer. Does it
set up automatically?

If yes, try to print. Does it work?

If not, set up the printer with system-config-printer. Try Postscript as
the driver at first, if this does not work, run

sudo apt-get install hplip-cups

Start system-config-printer again and try to set up your printer with
hpcups as the driver. Does this work?

If all this does not work, please follow the instructions in the
sections "CUPS error_log" and "Capturing print job data" in
https://wiki.ubuntu.com/DebuggingPrintingProblems

Please tell the results of everything you did here.
