Hi, I should be able to confirm this as I have the exact same hardware, but just need a few pieces of info:
1.) Are you using radeon or fglrx driver? (lspci -vvnn | grep radeon, if you don't see anything try fglrx) 2.) Is the monitor connected by the VGA port on the laptop itself or through base station?
