Public bug reported:

Binary package hint: virt-manager

Virt-manager allows selecting an additional disk (lvm, file, physical)
to add to a vm. Clicking continue you are given an error dialog stating
this could not be done to a running vm. Clicking "OK" will not add the
selected device.

Doing the same steps again virt-manager will add the device to the
running vm after mentioning this device will only be accessible after
having the vm rebooted. BUT: there are various errors with these
devices:

- sometimes they will be dupplicated (virt-manager adds the device two times
with exactly identical configuration lines)
- the device will have a "slot" already occupied by some other device (seems as
if virt-manager just starts counting from one on again)
- the device will have the same target dev (ex: "vdb" if there is already a
device with target "vdb")
- the device will have some arbitrary source dev assigned
- the device will have some arbitrary driver type assigned

I could only observe one of these errors (aka: an arbitrary source dev
given, but all other parameters are correct, or an already assigned pci
slot, but all other parameters are correct) never more than one error.

I'd normaly await something like not even being able to add any devices
while the vm is running, or, if I am allowed doing it, this being done
without errors (regardless of necessity to stop/start the vm to make the
device accessible). I'd personally prefer to have abilities to change
device configurations while VMs are running, activating these changes
stopping, then starting the VM.
