That freemind can't find the default properties is not the cause for it not to start. The java.awt.HeadlessException is what's wrong here. This is because openjdk-6-jre-headless is used as the java alternative. I switched to sun-java6 and now freemind starts without problem. >From the user experience side this is still a bug in my opinion.
