Public bug reported:
This is a vary funny bug to me. In fact I'm surprised that the sound
ever works at all. since it does not in window vista. The device is
Kensington Laptop dock with 7.1 surround sound. In between Ubuntu builds
it seems to work perfectly then not work at all. Its like 50/50 that a
new Ubuntu will run it.8 did not at first 9 ran it at first 10 on and of
functionality 11 ran it at first but as of June 2011 it does not without
a reinstall. The device shows up as 5.1 device some places on labels
when it is not. It runs as 7.1 when it works. I suspect the reson is
that the generic driver is not totally compatible with this odd sound
card labeled a s a 5.1 when it is 7.1. It would be nice if it kept
working continuously though between updates.
