Public bug reported:

I have new Ubuntu 11.04 install with Asus M4A88TD-M/USB3 motherboard.
Initially I my sounds were working, but after reboot I suddenly lost all
sounds. I've only been using sound from rear and front analog outputs.

I've tried installing and reinstalling updated packages, building and
installing Realtek drivers from source code, but that did not help with
the issue. Alsa mixer and PulseAudio volume control report valid looking
device and outputs.

I currently only hear small cracking and popping sounds from my speakers
every few seconds.

There seems to many similar bug reports, but any possible solutions used
in them has not yet helped me solving this.
