Same thing here. I installed ubuntu 11.04 before without problems, but when i
reinstalled it because i messed up some configs in ubuntu the bug appeared. For
me, the efi backup is stored in /dev/disk0s1, can i use an update app from
another cd? and is it, that this is really a backup, or is it just the efi
damaged by ubuntu? the firmwareupdate seems to be a bit dangerous, because
nobody can say if i brick my macbook completely with it, so i think i'll live
with it until there is a robust solution to this, or an official firmware
update for macbook6,1 is released.
I also want to say that I didn't read the release notes, so even if there was a
hint about this bug i would not have known, shame on me. But since the
installation is very macbook friendly and it knows when it is installed on a
macbook, there should really be a disclaimer there!
