It is not easy to know if this is a audio driver or video driver problem, but ways to figure it out include trying:
1) 10.10 2) 10.10 with upgraded alsa drivers according to https://wiki.ubuntu.com/Audio/InstallingLinuxAlsaDriverModules (it is especially interesting to see if upgrading actually breaks the HDMI audio) 3) 11.04 And for each of these three, attach an alsainfo according to http://wiki.ubuntu.com/Audio/AlsaInfo If there is a difference in the alsa-info data, and that difference in turn corresponds to when it's broken and when it works, we have somewhere to start. If not, it's probably a video driver problem. -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/793592 Title: [Studio Hybrid 140g, Realtek ALC888, Black Digital Out, HDMI] No sound at all To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/alsa-driver/+bug/793592/+subscriptions -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list [email protected] https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs
