** Summary changed: - [Inspiron N7110][nVidia] HDMI output is nonfunctional + [Inspiron N7110][nVidia] HDMI/VGA output is nonfunctional
** Description changed: Attaching a monitor by the HDMI port does not result in the monitor being detected and activated. Instead, no action is taken by the system. Installing the nvidia proprietary driver also results in an unusable HDMI connection. Trying to use the nvidia application to configure the monitor results in a warning message "You do not appear to be using the NVIDIA X driver". lsmod does show the nvidia driver in use. modinfo however, is unable to find the nvidia module. + + For VGA, Display preferences shows the monitor but is unable to display + anything on the monitor. Note: Before the nvidia driver was installed, the system was running unity. Afterwards the system was running the gnome desktop.
