The error in your upgrade log is:

Setting up plymouth (0.8.2-2ubuntu23) ...
update-initramfs: deferring update (trigger activated)

gzip: /initrd.img: invalid compressed data--format violated
lzma: Encoder error: -2147467259
dpkg: error processing plymouth (--configure):

This is strange; the initrd is normally /boot/initrd.img, not
/initrd.img. Do you have a /initrd.img file on your system? If so, do
you know where it comes from?

Unmarking this as a duplicate of bug #691985, since there are additional
gzip errors here suggesting it's a different problem.

** Package changed: plymouth (Ubuntu) => initramfs-tools (Ubuntu)

** Changed in: initramfs-tools (Ubuntu)
       Status: New => Incomplete

** This bug is no longer a duplicate of bug 691985
   lzma: Encoder error: -2147467259 is too vague and causes unhelpful
apport-package reports
