Blacklisting works perfect for me (11.04, 64bit). When you have edited the blacklist.conf you have to shut down, turn on the wifi by the hard switch on the side, then restart and the wifi should be on. You could also try "Fn + F5" when it's not working then (or when the hard switch has been off while booting). Hope that helps.
