I had this crash very regularly while testing i386 alternate images on
VMs running on amd64 (kernel 3.0-1.2-generic 3.0.0-rc3). After
increasing VM's memory it didn't happened in 4 runs.

We'll wait for tomorrows run and see if it happens when the test server
is loaded.

Also, I've never seen this crash when running amd64 guest on an amd64
host on same hardware and same VM configuration. So it shouldn't happen
anyway.
