Run again
/usr/lib/cups/backend/parallel
If it gives no answer, restart CUPS. When you have it giving an answer,
immedialy run
sudo ls -l /proc/sys/dev/parport/parport*/autoprobe*
sudo cat /proc/sys/dev/parport/parport*/autoprobe*
Do you get printer auto-detect info now? If so, try to print (with
logging in debug mode) and post the error_log if you do not get a
correct printout.
Run also the commands:
lsmod | grep lp
lsmod | grep par
