Public bug reported:

Using Ubuntu 11.04
Originally the headphones worked for both input and output.
Then there were problems switching between the speakers and the headphones. The
headphones would not work. But a re-boot would normally fix the problem.
Now the input works but the output doesn't. The speakers attached to the sound
card work when they are selected in the Sound Preferences. The headphones still
work on Windows.
