shows a (temporarily?) hanging SCSI subsystem thread on a 2 GB USB
attached HDD. This is most likely unrelated to the FireWire issue, but
please try again with this USB device removed and rebooted.
Then, collect diagnostic output from the FireWire subsystem this way: As root,
enter
echo 7 > /sys/module/firewire_ohci/parameters/debug
Then plug the FireWire device in, wait thirty seconds or so, and post the
output of "dmesg" here.
