nvidia-current is a dkms package, which means that it contains one or
more kernel modules that need to be built against your installed kernel.
Most of the time when a new kernel is installed the previous modules are
no longer compatible, and for dkms packages they drivers will be rebuilt
automatically. If you install these drivers manually they can't
automatically be rebuilt because the system isn't aware that they are
installed and doesn't know where to find the files required to rebuild.
There's not really anything we can do about this, so I'm closing this
bug as invalid. If you want them to be updated automatically then you
need to install the nvidia-current package as suggested by Manfred.
