** Description changed: When using File open in an application the Nautilus File Dialog shows up. It has severe shortcomings (see attached screenshot): (1) Hidden files show or don't show based on the selection made in Nautilus earlier. No UI (e.g. at (2)) is provided to toggle (Ctrl+H seems to work) (3) display is always in detail mode Ctrl1-3 or Ctlr+- to alter the display don't work. + + Show/Hide hidden files is available through keyboard shortcuts or rightclick, so a UI element is a nice-to-have. + The lack of display settings (e.g. specify columns like in the main window) like icons/list/details is a usability issue.
