Just like mrg666 I have this problem on my Dell 500m. The laptop boots to B/W screen with the final message: "fb: conflicting fb hw usage inteldrmfb vs EFI VGA - removing generic driver". Pressing the power button then gives me the nice "UBUNTU" dots screen just as its shutting down.
By deleting the "set gfxpayload=$linux_gfx_mode" line in grub I can boot normally, but I haven't found a permanent fix in /etc/default/grub. -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/685611 Title: [Natty] Booting fails because of GRUB setting "set gfxpayload=$linux_gfx_mode" To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/linux/+bug/685611/+subscriptions -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list [email protected] https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs
