Public bug reported:
I have an HP 160 Gb Removable Hard Drive which used to be recognized
without any problem under 6.10. Under Feisty, it does not automount.
If I attempt to do a mount-a, Feisty complains the drive requires a
check and is considered 'dirty'. Twice I have performed a ChkDsk on
this drive under Windows XP and it is absolutely clean with no bad
sectors. So the only way I can get Feisty to recognize this drive is to
use the 'force' option. On rebooting, Feisty frequently changes the
drive ID from /dev/sdb5 to /dev/sdc5 and vice versa requiring me to
constantly having to edit /etc/fstab. This is a somewhat tedious way to
do a reboot! I've tried ntfsfix and, although this returns all OKs, it
doesn't seem to clear up the basic problem described above. Thanks in
advance for all your good work on our behalf.
