Ok, a new version of the patch has been produced by Takashi. This time
it should always turn 0x1b and 0x1d on and keep it on.

I have also updated 
http://people.canonical.com/~diwic/temp/alsa-hda-dkms-acer3830tg_0.1_all.deb to 
include this patch instead.
Please test it (according to previous instructions: 1) no other workarounds 
installed, 2) download, 3) install, 4) reboot and 5) test) and report the 
result. Thank you!
