Oooh, it took hours for me to finally nail and identify this bug... I
would offer near-eternal gratitude and an extra donation towards the LGM
budget if someone would fix this.

This bug also occurs for paths with arrows. A rather fast workaround is
to bend the straight line before the cloning, and then suppress any
Béziers handles (all clones then becoming straight together with the
original).
