Installed timidity and mozplugger in order to play midi files like the ones
found at:
http://kids.niehs.nih.gov/lyrics/whistle.htm
However timidity was failing to play sounds because it was configured to use
-Od (directly writing to /dev/dsp)
The setting appears on line 9 in:
/etc/mozpluggerrc.d/61-audio.conf
8 audio/x-midi:midi,mid:MIDI audio file
9 controls noisy stream: timidity -Od "$file"
10 controls: playmidi "$file"
On a modern Ubuntu system /dev/dsp is taken by PulseAudio.
I found that by removing the -Od timidity would try a alternatives
to /dev/dsp that worked.
So I've removed -Od and ran update-mozpluggerrc to regenerate the
system-wide config file in /etc/mozpluggerrc
