Ok, it's not an empcommand bug. Would you please file a bug in libavg package (
https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/libavg/ ), restating your
configuration (please add also some hardware info regarding your graphics
adapter)?
It will be also useful to have a backtrace:
