A possible workaround is to use equivs to have a "fake" cupsys package
which will satisfy the old dependency:

sudo apt-get install equivs
cd /tmp
equivs-control cupsys
sed -i '/^Package:/ s/.*/Package: cupsys/' cupsys
equivs-build cupsys
sudo dpkg -i cupsys_1.0_all.deb

Now you should be able to install the old driver.
