There is obviously a problem since, if you read my original report and
the first comment on it:

A) The TEXT/alternative installer has NO sluggishness whatsoever.

B) Colin Watson himself, who wrote the ubiquity partitioner,
acknowledged that it was slow and explained why.


So please don't pretend that it's "fixed".. nothing is fixed, despite the 
numerous years that have elapsed. It would more honest to just say "we can't be 
bothered to make it just work like it should, let's close this bug report".  At 
least I would understand that...
