I can confirm the sound not working after resuming from hibernation on the T41. I can also add that there may be some related power management issues. Before a hibernation (when sound works), setting PM to "do nothing" or "blank screen" upon lid closing results in the screen not coming back after opening the lid. I have been pressing ctrl-alt-f1 then ctrl-alt f7 to get gnome to come back. The twist: after resuming from a hibernation, and having broken sound, closing and opening the lid with settings of "blank screen" or "do nothing" work fine.
