Public bug reported:

When attempting to play a video file using mplayer on the command line,
the program would spit the following line out several times before it
either quit on its own or I had to kill it.

X11 error: BadRequest (invalid request code or no such operation)

(Needless to say, the video didn't play either).

I did do an update yesterday, part of which included the kernel, so that
may have played a role considering it was working as expected a couple
of days ago.

Version of Ubuntu: 10.04 LTS
Version of mplayer: 2:1.0~rc3+svn20090426-1ubuntu16.1

** Affects: mplayer (Ubuntu)
     Importance: Undecided
         Status: New
