Hi Jamie,
Possibly this is bug 740387 in metacity (also see #654768)? Do you have
"capture-before-unmap" turned on in gconf:/apps/metacity/general/ ? If
so, try switching it off and restarting, and then see if the problem
goes away (or reduces frequency).
