Hi, Brian-- Thank you for the reply. My problem was resolved some time ago. In any event, i did some reading on Ubuntu Studio's forum and learned that the Oneiric distro of Studio was being stacked on top of XFCE. One of the concerns was that the Unity Desktop refrained from tabs. i didn't mind Unity per se, but found myself feeling the same way. i use my computer to write music and, while composing, can have as many as ten programs open on a single workspace. That includes terminals, too, because some synths are text based. In addition, i use a second workspace to open program manuals and man pages. Tabs just work better for me in that environment.
So, even though i managed to install cm-super-minimal, i switched to Xubuntu to become acquainted with XFCE before Ubuntu Studio did anything official. Thank you for the time, though, Brian. i do appreciate it. It seems that there was an error on your system when trying to install a particular package. Please execute the following command, as it will clear your package cache, in a terminal: sudo apt-get clean Then try performing the update again. This will likely resolve your issue, but the failure can be caused by filesystem or memory corruption. So please also run a fsck on your filesystem(s) and a memory test. If this does resolve your bug please set its status to Invalid. Thanks in advance! ** Changed in: cm-super (Ubuntu) Status: New => Incomplete ** Tags added: fsys-tarfile-error -- You received this bug notification because you are subscribed to the bug report. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/775122 Title: package cm-super-minimal (not installed) failed to install/upgrade: subprocess dpkg-deb --fsys-tarfile returned error exit status 2 Status in “cm-super” package in Ubuntu: Incomplete Bug description: Description: Ubuntu 11.04 Release: 11.04 cm-super-minimal: Installed: 0.3.4-3 Candidate: 0.3.4-3 Version table: *** 0.3.4-3 0 500 http://us.archive.ubuntu.com/ubuntu/ natty/universe i386 Packages 100 /var/lib/dpkg/status I doubt this is a bug, but figured you might want to know about it. I was upgrading from Ubuntu to Ubuntu Studio, and the new packages wouldn't install, given the summary. I figured it was an unmet dependency, immediately ran "sudo apt-get -f install," and the first package loaded was cm-super-minimal. That's why you get the above result from "apt-cache policy pkgname." My computer is now installing the packages it previously couldn't, and I've yet to receive and error message. If you've anything you believe I ought to know concerning this, please send me an e-mail. I've been using Ubuntu since February of 2010, and I love it!
