I did an upgrade to today on my Advent 4211 (MSI Wind) that has the realtek card and network manager dropped connection frequently, though output suggested it was connected. it was not possible to load sites. WICD also could not load sites. However an uninstall of network manager and reboot immediately allowed WICD to make connections to wifi. There is definitely a problem with network manager that prevents active connections being made, at least with certain chipsets. If any one tells me what out put to put on here I will reinstall network manager and print all required outputs. I see evidence of this in many wifi problems and often peoples problems are fixed by an unistall of network manager.
