Hi Rogan, OK, based on your screenshot and your comments we'll keep working under the assumption that it's Unity-related, although it may have more to do with 3D graphics, until we know a bit more.
I realize it's somewhat time-consuming, but I was wondering if you could try this mainline kernel and tell me how it works with regards to external monitor support and docking. This based on a report from another X201 owner who was having some problems with external screens, which this kernel solves: http://kernel.ubuntu.com/~kernel-ppa/mainline/v2.6.39-rc3-natty/ You'll find some instructions on working with mainline kernels here: https://wiki.ubuntu.com/Kernel/MainlineBuilds Be warned that this kernel may break *other* things; thus, it's not meant as a permanent solution, but rather a way to determine whether this kernel improves behavior, which may mean a fix was introduced at some point.
