Hi Rogan,

OK, based on your screenshot and your comments we'll keep working under
the assumption that it's Unity-related, although it may have more to do
with 3D graphics, until we know a bit more.

I realize it's somewhat time-consuming, but I was wondering if you could
try this mainline kernel and tell me how it works with regards to
external monitor support and docking. This based on a report from
another X201 owner who was having some problems with external screens,
which this kernel solves:

http://kernel.ubuntu.com/~kernel-ppa/mainline/v2.6.39-rc3-natty/

You'll find some instructions on working with mainline kernels here:

https://wiki.ubuntu.com/Kernel/MainlineBuilds

Be warned that this kernel may break *other* things; thus, it's not
meant as a permanent solution, but rather a way to determine whether
this kernel improves behavior, which may mean a fix was introduced at
some point.

Thanks!
