So after a long winded debug session in #ubuntu-kernel on FreeNode,
we've concluded Dave's issue is actually a duplicate of bug 812979. As
such, I'm marking this as a duplicate of that bug. A fix for bug 812979
has been applied, but not yet uploaded.
