I suspect you are using something other than network-manager to connect
to the internet, but you still have the NM system service installed and
running; which says you do not have a network connection. If you don't
want to use NM, it is a good idea to uninstall it, so that it doesn't
run and report that you have no connection, which will make anything
that uses NM status not behave properly, as evidenced here.
