I'm having the same problem: apport hanging after I run
ubuntu-bug ubuntu-bug linux-image-2.6.35-30-generic
Though I don't see any problems with X. I also just noted 3 other similar bug
reports as dups of this.
I'm attaching the result of this strace of the process, as suggested in bug
sudo strace -vvs1024 -o /tmp/apport-gtk.trace -p `ps ux|grep apport-gtk | grep
-v grep|awk '{print $2}'`
bzip2 -9 /tmp/apport-gtk.trace
