Public bug reported: When the /var/lib/apt/periodic/update-success-stamp file is not found, update-manager displays the following message: "It is unknown when the package information was updated last. Please try clicking on the 'Check' button to update the information."
I think that the instruction given here should be more clear, and the user should not be instructed to "try clicking on the 'Check' button ... " but should be instructed to "Click the 'Check' button to update the information" --- Ubuntu Bug Squad volunteer triager http://wiki.ubuntu.com/BugSquad ProblemType: Bug DistroRelease: Ubuntu 11.04 Package: update-manager 1:0.150.3 ProcVersionSignature: Ubuntu 2.6.38-10.46-generic-pae 2.6.38.7 Uname: Linux 2.6.38-10-generic-pae i686 Architecture: i386 Date: Fri Aug 5 11:42:29 2011 GConfNonDefault: /apps/update-manager/check_new_release_ignore= /apps/update-manager/first_run=false /apps/update-manager/remind_reload=false /apps/update-manager/show_details=true /apps/update-manager/window_size=(629,659) InstallationMedia: Ubuntu 10.10 "Maverick Meerkat" - Release i386 (20101007) PackageArchitecture: all ProcEnviron: LANGUAGE=en_US:en LANG=en_US.UTF-8 SHELL=/bin/bash SourcePackage: update-manager UpgradeStatus: Upgraded to natty on 2011-07-26 (9 days ago) ** Affects: update-manager (Ubuntu) Importance: Low Status: New ** Tags: string-fix -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/821345 Title: Give clear instructions in update-manager To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/update-manager/+bug/821345/+subscriptions -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list [email protected] https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs
