I am experiencing the same problem when trying to launch cryptkeeper from a Unity desktop: The cryptkeeper program icon fails to appear in the bar.
The System Monitor shows: cryptkeeper sleeping A plain text file under my home folder, xsession-errors , contains the following (each time I try to launch cryptkeeper ): (nautilus:2181): GLib-GObject-CRITICAL **: g_value_get_object: assertion `G_VALUE_HOLDS_OBJECT (value)' failed ** (process:2194): DEBUG: zeitgeist-datahub.vala:174: Inserting 1 events ** (<unknown>:2175): DEBUG: TrayChild Rejected: cryptkeeper cryptkeeper Cryptkeeper The program launches, but is inaccessible...
