I have the same problem since I installed Ubuntu 11.04. Almost every time I open the lid of my laptop (computer on, not suspended) the screen freezes. I can tell the processes are still alive but nothing moves in the screen (except the mouse). Usually I switch to a terminal (Ctrl + F1) and restart gdm.
If I switch to the terminal and then go back to the graphic interface, without restarting GDM, this message appears in the kern.log: Aug 5 20:45:08 jimi kernel: [ 465.420906] [drm:drm_mode_getfb] *ERROR* invalid framebuffer id And if I do that two more times...
