his bug got possibly fixed with the current Ghostscript release (9.04).
Please try a live CD of Oneiric (Alpha 3) and check whether you can do
your Ghostscript task without problems there.
Please tell us also which Ubuntu version and which Ghostscript version
caused the crash. Also attach the input PDF file and post the
Ghostscript command line (or at least the steps to reproduce) here.
