Actually I'm just an Ubuntu user like you (I don't work for Canonical).
Perhaps I was a little bit to fast in closing this bug, I tried to print a jpg
with the lp command in Ubuntu 11.04 and that worked without problems.
Therefore we need more information if you still have this problem. Does it only
happen with certain jpg, if yes please add one that gives the problem. To add
usefull information to this bug report about your printing setup (e.g. what
printer model do you have and what driver are you using) please run the
following command on a terminal:
apport-collect -p cups 502319
Also attach you cups error_log with debugging enabled after trying to print
with the lp command as described here:
